Paalam Sampaguita

Submitted by kyo on Wed, 2006/12/06 - 6:25pm.

Noon namang high school, no doubt "The Dawn" ang paborito namin.

Paalam Sampaguita
Yano

Chorus:

Two in One: Kamusta na Ayos Pa ba?

Submitted by kyo on Sun, 2006/10/08 - 7:46pm.

written by Dong Abay and Eric Gancio

I'm Always Drunk in San Francisco

Submitted by kyo on Sun, 2006/07/16 - 7:54pm.

Currently listening to "Jazz Vocalists: Hear & Now" (Concord Jazz, 2006) and there's this cute track by Tommy Wolf sung by Kitty Margolis "I'm Always Drunk in San Francisco". What can I say? I think you're going to agree. Here's the full lyrics:

------
I'm always drunk in San Francisco;
I always stay out of my mind.
But if you've been to San Francisco,
they say that things like this go on all the time.

It never happens nowhere else,
maybe it's the air;
Can't really seem to help myself;
And, what's more, I don't care.

I'm always drunk in San Francisco;
I'm never feeling any pain.
But tell me, why does San Francisco,
just like a lover's kiss, go straight to my brain?

I guess it's just the mood I'm in
that acts like al - co - hol;
Because I'm drunk in San Francisco,
and I don't drink at all.
------

It's a nice album by the way, featuring Ray Charles, Michael Buble, Diana Krall, Norah Jones, Linda Ronstadt, Madeleine Peyroux among many other great vocalists.

Mystified

Submitted by jagcon on Mon, 2005/12/26 - 4:50pm.

Here's a couple of mp3 tracks available for free download only in Barangay Amerika.

My latest track is called "Mystified". Warning: Turn down your volume first. Then turn it up gradually. It might blow your speakers.

My other track is "Kem-Bot". In case you do not understand the robotoid vocalist, the lyrics goes like this:

Baywang ikot
Baywang ikot
Baywang ikot
Pakembot-kembot

Your feedback is greatly appreciated. Enjoy!

These tracks are also available for listening here.

Electronica worth listening to

Check out "trust" by Filipino electronica artist g.no from Tampa, FL. The killer stutter effects (ala BT) is pretty cool! I wanna learn how to do that.

MTV Overdrive

Submitted by kyo on Mon, 2005/11/07 - 7:56pm.

MTV has a cool new site (OK, I only freakin realized this was out since April today but to me it is still NEW) called MTV Overdrive. Windows Media Center users should find it under Online Spotlight. Although it requires a broadband connection and the latest Macromedia Flash plugin, the user interface is pretty intuitive and works nicely inside the Media Center environment. The web version (see link above) looks a little different. Here's a screenshot:

They got a pretty big library of music videos up online and I actually found several from New Order (one of my faves as you can see). They even got one of Gillian Gilbert and Stephen Morris's pet project a.k.a. "The Other Two" as well as Bernard Sumner's Electronic:

New Track

Submitted by kyo on Sat, 2005/10/29 - 4:26pm.

Got a new breakbeat track here:
Living Methods [4.3mb, Apple AAC; or 6.5mb MP3 @192kbps]. You can use iTunes or Quicktime to listen to it.

Update: I noticed that the mastering (or lack thereof) probably made the levels in the audio a little weak. I run the raw wav file again through Nero WaveEdit hopefully to kick it up a notch.

FriskyRadio, The Crystal Method

Submitted by kyo on Thu, 2005/10/20 - 1:32pm.

San Francisco based Faisal Sultan founded FriskyRadio in 2001, one of my frequently listened podcasts/streaming radio on iTunes playing mostly progressive house. He also happens to run the visually stimulating photoblog at friskypics.com. Sweet.

And speaking of electronica, digital music and other gizmos. M-Audio invades the Bomb Shelter, home of the dynamic breakbeat duo Ken Jordan and Scott Kirkland better known as The Crystal Method in a short featurette titled "From Stage to Studio".

Ipod Playlist: Photograph

Submitted by enzo on Wed, 2005/09/28 - 4:01pm.

The number one downloaded tune in iTunes today is the song from Nickelback entitled Photograph.

Inspired by the song, today I brought forth in this world the ipod playlist that I will simply call Photograph. This list shall contain songs that deal with Photography.

And here is the entire lyrics of the flagship tune:

Photograph-Nickelback

Look at this photograph
Everytime I do it makes me laugh
How did our eyes get so red
And what the hell is on Joey's head

And this is where I grew up
I think the present owner fixed it up
I never knew we'd ever went without
The second floor is hard for sneaking out

And this is where I went to school
Most of the time I had better things to do
Criminal records says I've broke in twice
I must have done it half a dozen times

I wonder if it's too late
Should I go back and try to graduate
Life's better now than it was back then
If I was them I wouldn't let me in

Oh oh oh
Oh God I

Every memory of looking out the back door

Sugar Ray at the San Mateo County Fair

Submitted by kyo on Wed, 2005/09/07 - 3:35pm.

Mark McGrath, Sugar Ray Mark McGrath, Sugar Ray Mark McGrath, Sugar Ray

Shot on August 20, 2005.

It was a funny show. The band was in an 80's mood and did short covers of Poison's 'Every Rose Has It's Thorn', Joan Jett and the Black Heart's 'I Love Rock and Roll', and even opening the set with a long intro of Michael Jackson's 'Thriller'. I think they even managed to fool some of the audience that they were about to play GNR's 'Sweet Child O' Mine'.

This was a bit of a difficult shooting situation: low light, a shaky 100-300mm zoom handheld on the long end set at 1600 or 3200 ISO and a BIG security guy asking you to pleas

LoveParade SF 2005

From LoveParadeSF.org:

"In 2001, a diverse group of San Franciscans envisioned bringing Loveparade to the US for the first time. And what better place than San Francisco, home of the original Summer of Love? After many meetings and thousands of volunteer hours, the first ever US Loveparade came to San Francisco on October 2, 2004 with 30 floats, 220 DJs, and 37,000 revelers dancing in the streets to the sounds of every genre of electronic music."

"The love returns on Saturday, September 24, 2005, with official events also planned for Friday, September 23th and Sunday, September 25th. Mark your calendars now for what promises to be one of the pre-eminent electronic music events in the world."
